MAC Hockey started with a simple frustration that many hockey players know all too well.

We were tired of spending hundreds of dollars on premium hockey sticks that still broke, weren't available in the right specs, or were constantly out of stock in New Zealand. There had to be a better option.

As a lifelong hockey family, the sport has always been a big part of our lives. I grew up playing inline hockey in Nelson and spent time playing ice hockey as well. Today, my brother, nephews, and younger half-brothers all play the game, and getting back on the ice reminded me why I love hockey so much.

At the same time, I have a background in e-commerce and always wanted to build a business around something I genuinely enjoy. Starting a hockey brand felt like the perfect opportunity to combine both passions.

That's how MAC Hockey was born.

The name comes from our family name, Macarthy, making this more than just another hockey brand, it's something we're proud to build for our family and the wider New Zealand hockey community. One day, I hope my son will be skating around with a MAC Hockey stick in his hands too.

Our goal is simple: provide premium-quality hockey sticks at a price that's fair. By working directly with experienced manufacturers and keeping our business lean, we can focus on what matters most, quality, value, and great customer service.
